How to be happy

It’s been a while since I posted, and I wanted to share a quick video I found on being happy. It’s all about being in the present moment, because when you’re tapped into right now, you’re happy. When you go into future or past, when you try to solve problems you’ve created in your mind, well, you’re not so happy.

Life in a Nutshell

Life can be summed up quite nicely: you will come up against challenges. You will drown in frustration and fear. Okay, perhaps things are not that dire, but at times they seem like they are, don’t they?

I have a few core principles I like to follow when living life.

We’ll cover them in just a sec, but I want to thank you for stopping by. I don’t know how far I’ll take this blog, but I do enjoy playing with prose, or writing.

It’s fun. But let’s begin.

Health

The first principle is health. Without health, you have nothing. You have to eat, live and think healthy. Money doesn’t matter if you’re sick, or if you have health problems.

Yes, we will always face challenges, but do your best to stay healthy and live a balanced life. Your wellbeing is what matters. At least to me it does. I’ve struggled with health issues in the past, and it isn’t fun. It can cripple your life.

But things do turn around. Even if your health doesn’t improve, your mindset can.

Spirit

Spirituality is also important. There’s a good section on spirituality over at Psychology Today that I like to read. There are a lot of interesting things there, such as out of body experiences, which I have played around with for some time in the past but I never had success.

I do like meditation though, and my life has changed for the better because of it. It helps me live a healthy and balanced life. It helps improve my wellbeing and it helps me feel good in my body.

So we can’t forget the spiritual, can we?

It’s easy to dismiss but it lies at the core of everything. If you don’t have some sort of spiritual practice, you’re probably not feeling as good as you could.

Purpose

Then we come to purpose. Do you have a purpose in your life? If not, why not?

Maybe you don’t know what it is. That doesn’t matter. It’s an excuse. If you want to follow your purpose, all you have to do is follow your interests. You don’t have to find your passion or do anything radical.

Simply start where you are. Begin with what you’ve got. Forget everything else. No crystal ball needed. Simply start. Forget about perfection and start moving forward.

That’s how you’ll achieve your goals and live a life full of happiness and awesomeness.

To Sum Up

I think I will start wrapping things up there. In summary I would want to proclaim that there are several principles that are key to living a delightful life, but you have to be willing to do something about it.

We human beings are resistant to change. We only tend to change when staying put becomes painful. And there’s nothing wrong with that. It’s fine. Once you stop trying to change yourself, your life will improve.

That’s just how it is, and that’s what I’ve realized.

I’m not perfect. I’m afraid and scared like anyone else. But I know that one step at a time is what will make a difference in my life and hopefully in yours as well.
